« Back to calendar « Previous Event | Next Event »
Wednesday April 19, 2017 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Monthly on the third Wednesday

1105 Terminal Way, Suite 202, Reno, NV 89502  (map)

Presented by D.L. Whitehead

This is a 3 week course. The first session is introductory and free. You may sign up and pay for the course ($30) at the end of the introductory session.

These writer’s workshops are about the craft and subtleties of writing, both fiction and non-fiction. Unless you’re writing a How-To manual you are telling a story. Story telling is an ability to relate something in an entertaining or informative manner.

Because the series is about writing, it is also about the writer or, in this case, the storyteller. The focus of this series is to give students the tools to bring their inner storyteller to life and give them the ability to relate their stories with greater focus and understanding of what they read and, hence, what they write.

Each level of writing workshop is ten weeks long and focuses on the tools that will move the writer towards publishing.  Some of the topics that will be covered include:

  • Introduction and assessment
  • Making characters live and breathe
  • Finding the hidden artifact and interpreting it into something real
  • To Plot or Not To Plot?
  • Short fiction vs. Long Fiction

...and so much more.
